Gaelic Choir

The Fèis Phàislig Gaelic Choir welcomes young people, aged 8-18, with a passion for singing.

About

The Fèis Phàislig Gaelic Choir is a fun and welcoming space where young people come together to sing, learn, and perform. Open to young people from P5 upwards, the choir offers an exciting opportunity to explore traditional Gaelic music, perform at events, and compete in national competitions like the Royal National Mòd.

  • No Gaelic required! We learn the songs together in a relaxed and supportive environment
  • Free to join! Thanks to our partnership with Renfrewshire Council, there’s no cost to take part.
  • Where & When? Sessions take place on Tuesday evenings at Castlehead High School, running between 6-8pm (up to 1 hour per session, timetabled based on demand).

Led by professional musicians and experienced tutors, our sessions focus on developing vocal skills, confidence, and teamwork. A dedicated team of supervisors and volunteers ensures everything runs smoothly, and we follow strict Child Protection & Health & Safety Guidelines.

Rehearsals

Rehearsals take place weekly during term-time on Tuesday evenings at Castlehead High School. Each session lasts around 75 minutes, offering a mix of learning new songs, rehearsing for upcoming performances, and taking part in fun games and warm-ups.

The choir is led by renowned Gaelic singer Màiri McGillivray, who brings a wealth of experience in traditional music and Gaelic. Whether you’re completely new to Gaelic singing or already have experience, sessions are designed to be engaging, supportive, and enjoyable for everyone.

Beyond singing, the Gaelic Choir is a great opportunity to make new friends who share a love for music and an interest in Gaelic culture. The focus is on building confidence, developing vocal skills, and preparing for exciting performances throughout the year.
