In previous years, participants would select up to five choices, allowing our Fèis team to manually timetable their three choices with a couple of backup options if those classes were full. With a large rise in participant numbers, this method has become impractical. Participants would often discover, closer to attending the Fèis week, that they had not secured a place in their chosen class.
For 2018, places in all of our choices will be secured on a ‘first come first served’ basis. This change will allow participants to see what subjects still have places available when applying and secure a spot. When all the places in a class have been filled, that choice will no longer be available on our application form. For example, when our application form goes live there will be ten places in each of the three guitar classes, a total of thirty places. The first thirty people to access our online form and select guitar as their first, second, or third choice will automatically secure one of these places. Guitar will then no longer be an option within our subject choices.
We hope this new approach will be more transparent for participants, allowing them to see updates in real-time on how many places are still available.
