Next intake for newstarts: September 2025
Looking for a fun, creative and inspiring way for your child to learn music? Our Saturday morning classes offer a brilliant opportunity to try something new, make friends, and build confidence through traditional music.
Classes take place during term time at West Primary School, Paisley. Each participant receives up to 1 hour of group tuition every week in one of our core instruments: accordion, fiddle, or guitar. Newstart places are aimed at Primary 5 level and above, though we’re happy to consider other ages or ability levels too.
Don’t worry if you don’t have an instrument — we have a supply of instruments available to hire (click here to find out more). Please note: guitar learners must provide their own instrument.
No experience is needed — just enthusiasm and a willingness to learn! All classes are delivered in a friendly group setting, with weekly goals set by our tutors. Regular at-home practice is essential, and we support this through practice diaries to track progress and set clear targets.
Showcase events take place throughout the year, giving families the chance to see and celebrate the progress our young people are making.
Band Workshops:
For pupils in S1–S6 who are already confident on their instrument, our band workshops offer the chance to take their playing further. Each week, musicians work in a mixed-instrument group with one of our tutors to develop their musicianship, creativity, and performance skills. Together, they’ll arrange and rehearse music to be performed at our showcase events throughout the year.
Fèis Bheag:
For younger children in P1–P4, our Fèis Bheag sessions are a perfect introduction to the world of traditional music. These fun and engaging classes include music, song, dance, and art — all designed to give children a taste of the Fèis experience.

The price per lesson for the 2025/26 session is £10, with payments made termly in advance through our website.

We’re committed to keeping our classes accessible to all young people. Thanks to public funding, we’re able to subsidise the true cost of our programme, meaning families pay significantly less than the full cost of delivery.
We also offer a limited number of fully funded places for pupils entitled to a clothing grant (confirmation required). To apply for one of these places, simply tick the relevant box on the application form.
If you have any questions or would like to chat about your child taking part, please get in touch at info@feisphaislig.com — we’d be happy to help.
