May Fèis Weekend Success
As part of our 10-Year Anniversary Celebrations we were delighted to launch our first ever May Fèis Weekend, a vibrant three-day celebration of traditional music, Gaelic song, and community for people of all ages and abilities.
We kicked off the weekend on Friday evening with our Family Ceilidh, welcoming over 100 people for a lively night of music, dancing and fun. It was wonderful to see families, friends and community members coming together to enjoy the celebrations. We also hosted our Open Floor, giving people the opportunity to share tunes, songs and performances of their own, a huge thank you to those who shared their music with us.
Saturday saw more than 60 people take part in our free melody, accompaniment and Gaelic song workshops. This is the first time we’ve ran workshops for all ages and we were thrilled with the turnout, support and enthusiasm. Throughout the day, participants had the opportunity to develop their skills, try something new and connect with others through traditional music and Gaelic culture in a supportive and welcoming environment. The day concluded with a very special concert from Sian, we were delighted to welcome such talented performers as part of our first May Fèis Weekend.
On Sunday, we rounded off the weekend with our instrumental and song sessions. These relaxed sessions were a great success, bringing musicians, singers and listeners of all ages together to share music.
A huge thank you goes to everyone who attended and supported the weekend. We are incredibly grateful to the National Lottery through Creative Scotland for their funding support, which helped make this event possible. We would also like to thank Blend Coffee Lounge, the Paisley Arts Centre and the OneRen team for their support throughout the weekend and for helping us create such a welcoming environment for participants and audiences alike.
